We make a living by what we get,
we make a life by what we give.”-Winston Churchill
Mentorship and giving back are two important lessons I learned from my first mentor, my father Sam Kornet. From an early age, I had a front row seat to watch Sam make the art of giving not only a personal priority but a business priority. He would take the time out of his busy schedule to pull aside his FabraCleen employees for quick mentoring sessions and volunteered in a variety of business and community organizations. Giving was, to paraphrase Winston Churchill, how he made a life and certainly an inspirational way to live.
In that same spirit, I’m personally offering Continuing Education Units “CEUs” to architects and interior designers, through the Marble Institute of America—free of charge. I’m willing to work with groups with as little as five people doing breakfast or lunch and learn sessions on such topics as:
- Understanding the Dimension of Marble
- Advising on the Proper Maintenance of Marble and Other Natural Stone
- The basics of Travertine Selection, Fabrication, Installation, and Maintenance
More classes available on request.

Why offer these courses free of charge?
It’s really an opportunity for me to give back to an industry that has provided so much to me and my family and a way to create a sense of community and new friendships within the architect, design, and stone and tile maintenance and restoration arenas. Feel free to get in touch with me at bkornet@fabracleen.com so we can figure out your needs for Continuing Education Units. I’m Brian Kornet with FabraCleen…Getting all the Dirt Since 1949.
Brian Kornet is a Certified Public Speaker with the Marble Institute of America, the former President of the New York Rug Cleaners Institute, volunteers with the Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration Certification, is the Vice-President of the Long Island Floor Covering Association, is an advisor at Stone and Tile PROS and SafeandCompliant.net, and still manages to find time to run FabraCleen, keep up with his family, and enjoy his favorite hobby of photography.
